Sometimes, I find myself looking at ‘internet strangers’ and their crinkle advice. It leads me to a question, “Why are they so much better than me?” I start pondering over the details of my work, clients, and life.
If you do the same at times, we’ve got a common ground here.
But, I know how we can come out of our doubts — by drawing a fine line between the real ‘you’ and ‘your work’. I’ll tell you how you can apply this to your life.
Nothing Changes…
We must understand that the world wouldn’t change if we don’t achieve the perfect peak. Don’t get me wrong here — it doesn’t mean you stay satisfied with the bare minimum.
Instead, you realize that you’re human. As a human, you deserve a stress-free life outside of work. We work to live; not live to work.
When you realize that it’s okay to leave a room for yourself, that’s the first step.
Savor Your Peace of Mind
Let’s say you have a deadline coming up. There are two options to choose from: either you become stressed about it or plan peacefully to finish the project.
I’d suggest to choose the latter. When you work in peace, you aren’t affecting the ‘real you’. Thus, you’re also able to give the best shot. A 2019 study also showed that people happy at work are more productive than others.
In addition to the productivity, the work stops affecting your inner peace. If something might bother you, tell yourself: “I choose my peace over anything.” It always works for me!
Draw a Line Between ‘You’ & ‘Work’
Finally, draw a fine line between your ‘personal’ and ‘professional’ life. Here are three tips that you can use:
- Keep your emotions out of work. It should be all about professionalism at your desk.
- Be clear about deadlines. When a deadline is too close, try to make your manager know it.
- Free yourself from extra chaos. Live your life at peace.
Remember, your mental, physical, and emotional state decide the quality of your life. It’s all in your control from one perspective. You’ve got to choose the life you want.
