Nowadays, most people’s routine has become like – sleeping late, waking up early, and taking a lot of caffeine to work. Isn’t it exhausting to think about? So here, I will share 9 ways to stay energized all-day.
9 Ways to Stay Energized
Now let’s look at the 9 ways you can stay energized all day:
1. Sleep Well
Sleep deprivation or ‘a poor sleep cycle’ consumes all your energy, drains your mind, and affects your general health. Hence, you feel dizzy and low in the day.
Factors such as stress and caffeine can affect your sleep quality. But what does the term, ‘sleep quality’ mean? Let’s find out —
Our body goes through 4-5 sleep stages to complete 8 hours of sleep. The first stage is your lightest sleep. Meanwhile, the second and third slowly take you into a deeper sleep. The final stage is REM, where you dream.
A good quality sleep means ‘deep sleep’. However, caffeine and stress decrease the amount of REM and deep sleep you get. Ultimately, decreasing your sleep quality.
Conclusion is, avoid taking caffeine after sunset, and stay stress-free.
2. Take Fruits & Drink Water
Fruits such as avocados, apples, bananas, and berries are considered a great source of nutrients and antioxidants. In addition, other foods such as oats, nuts, eggs, and yogurt can help you feel fresh throughout the day.
And about water, I don’t have to say much. We already know the benefits of staying hydrated. The tip is, drink lukewarm water.
3. Go in Sunlight
We have a clock in our body which tells us, when to sleep or wake up. It’s called the Circadian Cycle.
It works on the basis of lightness and darkness around you. For instance, the light in daytime keeps us awake and alert. Meanwhile, the darkness of night makes us fall asleep.
So, go in sunlight after waking up and let your body know. On the other surface, avoid any kind of light at night.
4. Consume Less Content
On an average, a person’s brain processes around 6,200 thoughts per day. But what if all your thoughts revolve around thousands of content pieces on social media? Won’t you start feeling drained?
Going for a walk or sitting with a fiction book may recharge you. So, use your devices, but mindfully. Limit their use to an extent and see the change.
5. No-Stress
Stress is a deal-breaker between you and your productive routine. I know how it feels to drag yourself just to get out of bed!
So, try these little things to break-free through stress:
Take deep breaths
Go for a walk
Drink more water
And meditate.
6. Move Your Body
Here, ‘moving your body’ doesn’t mean that you have to go and show some stunts. Instead, just practice normal exercise.
Since exercising provides fresh oxygen to your blood cells, your heart and lungs will work more efficiently. So, you will have more energy to get things done.
7. Breathe
Deep breaths are as simple as giving your body the free oxygen it deserves. In fact, Michigan Medicine says that 10 minutes of deep breathing can:
Release all the tension and stress from your body
Make you feel more energy
Increase blood circulation in your body
Interesting, isn’t it?
All you have to do is, close your eyes, relax the muscles, and take a breath. Hold it in for a few seconds then slowly release. Repeat for 10 minutes.
8. Limit Caffeine
Oftentimes, we take loads of caffeine through coffee or tea just to keep ourselves awake. But is that good for us?
According to USDA, an average eight-ounce serving of coffee contains 95 mg of caffeine. However, factors such as the ‘type of coffee’ can affect the caffeine content in a single cup.
Up to 400 mg of caffeine is okay for most healthy adults. However, only one cup of coffee a day is recommended. Otherwise, an absurd number of coffee cups can cause anxiety, dehydration, insomnia, and headache.
So, watch out your limit and replace your cup of coffee or energy shot with water.
9. Have a Nap
As I have already said before, if you’re feeling sleepy, go and sleep. Don’t consume any caffeine at all – it will only make it worse with a headache.
Have a power nap. You’re fine.
